Hanoi maintains the lead in National Sports Games 2022

Hanoi Sports topped the medal tally with 175 golds, 143 silvers and 157 bronzes at the 2022 National Sports Games concluded on December 21 in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province, in a ceremony titled “Reaching for Glory”.

The 2022 National Sports Games, the biggest in the country’s sports history, took place on December 9-21 in Quang Ninh Province and 10 other localities, including Hanoi, Haiphong, Hai Duong, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Hoa Binh, and Vinh Phuc.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung said the event was held in an exciting manner that promotes sportsmanship, solidarity, and honesty. “The annual sports event was successfully organized after four years, marking a new development for the country’s sports industry,” he said.

A total of 933 medal events in 43 organized sports were contested, attracting 9,654 athletes from 65 sports delegations from 63 provinces and cities and two national sports delegations from the Vietnam People’s Army and the People’s Public Security Forces, and thousands of coaches, officials, referees and service personnel, among others.

A total of 53 national records and 96 Games records were broken at the Games.

This is the sixth consecutive time, the Hanoi Sports delegation ranked first with 175 gold, 143 silver, and 157 bronze medals.

The Ho Chi Minh City Sports delegation took second place with 128 golds. Third and fourth places belonged to Military Sports and Thanh Hoa Sports with 82 and 40 gold medals, respectively.

Ninh Thuan Sports delegation took the last place with only seven silvers and seven bronzes.

The National Sports Games is a quadrennial multi-sport event involving representatives from provinces, cities of the first level of administrative division, police, armed forces, education, and training sector.
