Upon addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Doan Van Viet noted that in order to improve the competitiveness and position of Vietnamese tourism in the region, localities and businesses  need to cooperate with each other.

It is essential to build new tourism products, exchange visitors between localities and destinations, as well as improving the tourism workforce, he emphasizes.

A series of workshops are also scheduled to be held as part of the event, including one seeking ways to develop sea-based tourism in central Vietnam, one on leisure tourism properties, and another on digital transformation in tourism.

Between March 31 and April 3 the VITM was organised in Hanoi, drawing the participation of over 2,000 businesses and 40,000 visitors.
